Her service was… read more first class, her knowledge around the menu was brilliant and she made us feel right at home with her banter and sense of humor. If I owned a restaurant I would steal her away and she’d start tomorrow! Another very professional touch was the chef visiting the tables to see if everyone enjoyed their food. The meals were delicious and that was just an added touch of class.

The room we stayed in was a superior sea view but it was still very small and the sea view marginal, but it had a king size bed. It must have been recently renovated; bathroom very small but modern with very good shower.

My only criticism was lack of a bedspread (but it could be my personal quibble) and only one hand towel provided.

All is redeemed by the restaurant attached to the hotel premises, Samphire 21, which is a separate business (also reviewed by me), one of the absolutely best I’ve eaten at in the last few years. Breakfast is outstanding and a must though charged separately. More

  Stayed here for 1 night as a single traveller. All the staff I met were friendly and efficient. Although it is an old building the hotel appeared fresh and clean.… read more I was in a superior single room with a double bed. Room and bathroom spacious lots of storage if needed. Soap/ shower gel provided. The view wasn’t the best but that is because I was at the back of the hotel so I’m guessing if you want the sea view you need to request it. I wasn’t that bothered as I was out and about all the time. Very close to both the sea front and the town – short hills to both but was not a problem for me. Also felt safe as the door was locked at night. You could only enter after that with room key. Lovely cocktail bar within hotel. Samphire restaurant also within hotel very attractively decorated ( as is the cocktail bar) serves lovely Sunday roast for £15. Nice selection of drinks reasonably priced. Lovely staff in there also. Very attentive. I believe they also serve breakfast but I did not use this facility. I don’t think the restaurant is run by the hotel but it all seems to run smoothly as if one team.   This is our second stay at this friendly hotel. The location is ideal for the local amenities in the town or as a touring base. Staff always helpful and … read more (well organised) welcoming check in. My husband finds the small lift useful as limited mobility restricts his use of a lot of stairs. Breakfast is always a delight as is the evening meal selection in the Samphire 21 restaurant. We tend to book our evening table to ensure a table in this popular restaurant. The Bar is well stocked and a good choice of cocktails available. Looking forward to our next stay in the autumn. Would definitely recommend.
