Manor Hotel Reviews
We encourage all our Guests to leave a review on departure as all comments are noted and suggestions acted upon, where applicable. Below are some recent testimonials.
Every year the same excellent, quite outstanding dinner, but additionally the superb service from waitresses, each course served accurately to individual people including special requests, perfect. The room and table are also delightfully decorated. We chose the venue a second, and a third, time as it was originally and every year since, the only place where absolutely no-one has whinged about something. On the contrary, quite the opposite, superlative comments from all guests along the same lines as I have indicated above. I would recommend the hotel to anyone along the same lines. Recently the hotel has started lunchtime meals and a Sunday dinner. Exmouth Friendship Group Dec. 2018
I would just like to add my thanks to Ali and all the staff for helping make our event such a wonderful success. I was so struck by how welcome we were made to feel and that nothing seemed too much trouble. Judging by the happy atmosphere and appreciation of the buffet I know all members will agree! We had our Art Christmas party with you on Tuesday evening & would like to thank you for such a great atmosphere & super Christmas decorations. The food was delicious & plenty of it. The staff were so friendly & efficient & helpful in every way. You should all be congratulated. Thanks yet again you do us proud. Merry Christmas to you all Melanie. December 2018
At breakfast we enjoyed another choice of meals from haddock to ‘Full English” . The hotel was rated as only 2* but the food was fully 5* plus. We cannot praise this hotel enough and would love a return visit. September 2018Harry and Jo
The most helpful and friendliest staff I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Rooms are clean, and up to date. Decent bar and lovely food in their dining room with a good variety menu. Very happy with my stay . It’s an absolute pleasure staying here. Working away from home a lot means I’ve stayed in some poor places but this lovely, super friendly hotel has been a beautiful breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work
I stayed at this hotel with a group of walkers. Its a typically old fashioned seaside hotel, with very pleasant , hard working staff. The hotel is situated just minutes from the town centre and sea front. The twin room that we stayed in (5) was quite spacious with plenty of drawer space, which is quite unusual and a decent size wardrobe, the rooms were very warm, but you could adjust the thermostats and open a window if necessary. The bathroom had a bath with shower over, and had very good water pressure, there were fresh towels daily if required, shampoo and shower gel/hand wash was provided. The dining room is very nicely decorated, there was waitress service and the food was very good and plentiful. There is also a comfortable lounge and bar with reasonable priced drinks.
I had the best Christmas ever in the Manor Hotel, Exmouth. The food was unbelievably good, with plenty of it. The staff we very friendly and helpful. I am planning to return in 2018 in the summer period. You will not be disappointed in any way if you book a holiday in the great hotel!Judi
We stayed for Christmas again. This was our 5th Christmas at the Manor Hotel. The Staff, the food and the rooms we have stayed in have always been excellent. The Hotel is a bit dated, but is going to be refurbished over the next year or so. Alison and David do a superb job of keeping it all together, doing the bar, waiting, reception and a lot more I’m sure.

Just a one night stay for a concert at the Pavillion. Friendly welcome at reception and a super seaview room that we hadn’t expected. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was also excellent, albeit lacking a little headroom in the shower for a 6ft person (3rd floor. Room 111). It’s clear that the hotel has been modernised in recent times. Breakfast was very nice. A full at table service provided all the usual options, including Haddock for those not wanting the full English. The full English was very good with decent locally sourced sausages. An excellent stay at a very good discounted rate. We’ll be back for certain.
Don’t be fooled by the 2 star rating- the food, cleanliness and staff attitudes are all excellent! Recommend to anyone looking to stay in Exmouth.
Fabulous view from the front of the Hotel out to sea and Dawlish Warren, could quite easily have sat in the chair looking out the window watching the boats go by. Quaint small lift. Received great help on where to park our car. September 2017Stephen
“Decor could have been better and there is no hand rail to aid you in and out of the bath”.Clive
“A beautiful day made with first class treatment from all staff at Manor hotel would highly recommend everything was perfect.”Diana, after a wedding function
“Table service for a good breakfast cooked as i wanted. Clean rooms”Robert
“An excellent elevated position overlooking the estuary and sea beyond, yet with easy access to the town. Although it is an unpresumptuous two star hotel it significantly out- performs many more highly rated and significantly more expensive establishments that we have stayed in. Being a family run business, customer satisfaction is obviously their number one priority, the rooms are spotless, the staff friendly, the food exceptional and the entertainment in the bar first class. Well done The Manor – this is how seaside holidays always used to be.”Roy
“Short weekend break…absolutely excellent couldn’t have been better enjoy every moment good location superb room sea views great breakfast great staff…will be back.. ”
“Lovely view. Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Great location. Ancient lift”Catherine
“Small telly only a minor niggle.”Paul, July 2017
The breakfast was very good. I had a lovely sea view from my room. The bathroom was a good size. There was a lift, which was useful as I was on the top floor. The bed was rather hard. October 2017Hazel
“It’s always a pleasure to stay in this special hotel. Ideally situated ,it has a tranquil position up on the historic Beacon , yet is just a few steps away from the town centre, sea front , gardens, and with wonderful views across the bay. It’s major assets are its staff…… very welcoming, warm, and always ready to help. Needless to say I highly recommend The Manor, quirky, homely, and a far cry from the austere hotel chains we see everywhere.”Mary
“The car park was inadequate for the size of the hotel; we were able to use it on the day we arrived but had to rely on street parking after that.”Pam
“We liked where the Hotel was located walking distance of the beach, town and everything we needed. The staff were all very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble, and gave excellent service. Would recommend this hotel for a pleasant comfortable stay for a short break or a longer holiday. We will use this hotel again, thank you Manor Hotel”.Ann
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily recommend you. You must have a great rapport with your staff as the whole place has a lovely friendly atmosphere. August 2017
“A great small family run hotel, very comfortable and friendly! Set on a hill overlooking the bay with great views! ”David
It’s marvellous how you’ve placed the Gideon Bible for easy use. The view from the window is stunning! I am thrilled with it. Flowers outside hotel – beautiful! Flowers on individual tables also. Tea-making is always super! Fantastic Cream Tea. Thank youFlorence
“To Ali, Dave, Ami and the rest of the team at the Manor , thanks so much for making our day yesterday just wonderful I have never had a hotels staff so extremely helpful and just generally lovely. We were renewing our wedding vows but to anyone looking for a function of any kind I simply couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. Many Thanks ”Kate, July 2017
Great position, free off road parking – first come first served – great views and close to beach and esplanade. If I wanted to be critical room was tired. Staff very friendly and helpful and good breakfast. Would definitely stay againAnyomous
The location was central to the town and an easy walk down through the park to the coast. You can catch many buses in town to visit other places. The train station is also within walking distance. Although I didn’t try out the restaurant there were plenty of people eating there. Reception staff were friendly. Bathroom and room were serviced each day – always clean.
I have never done a Turkey and Tinsel trip before although have travelled on my own. I needn’t have worried as I met some people on the coach who were very friendly. The hotel was charming and the owners and staff very helpful and obliging. My room was very clean as was the bathroom and the bed very comfortable, my one reservation were the two steps down into the actual sleeping part which meant you had two steps up every time you needed to use the bathroom, not too much of a problem for me but might be an issue for someone with limited mobility. Other than that couldn’t fault a thing, food was exceptional and always a good choice, also nice to have breakfast served at the table .Pity more hotels don’t offer this. Good entertainment on all evenings, bell ringers especially good. I would not hesitate to return.
